Welcome social ceremony
At the end of the ten day orientation
programme,the first year trainees are accorded a welcome party by
the second year trainees. This is the college tradition, that every
batch upholds faithfully. Second year trainees organize this function
under the supervision of the president and the academic staff. At
this event ,second year trainees entertain first years with the
variety show. And it is mainly a show of talents of second year
trainees. The special things that can be seen is the happiness and
the eagerness to identify themselves.

Farewell ceremony
At the end of the two year residential
teacher trainee course, second year trainees are hosted to a farewell
party by the first year trainees. This is in reciprocation to the
welcome social. This is usually held after the Pirith Ceremony.
And it is sad moment because second year trainees leave the college.
This event symbolizes the formal taking over of responsibilities
by first year trainees from second years who leave the college after
the final examination.

Pirith Ceremony
With the take over of responsibilities,
the first year students have to conduct several function traditionally.
The most massing event is the annual pirith ceremony
conducted by the Buddhist association. All night pirith ceremony
is usually held to bless the second year students before the final
examination. This is held in the college main hall and the
beautiful pirith mandapa is constructed in the middle of
the hall according to tradition. Entire construction process is
carried out by the trainees themselves under the supervision of
academic staff. This ceremony concludes with the offering of the
morning meal to the invited monks. All trainees take part in the
ceremony.

Sports Meet
With the participation of all the first
year and second year trainees ,the sports meet is held in the college
playground. This is organized by sports association under the supervision
of the president & the sports sectional lecturers.
The trainees are divided in to four
houses called Kokila, Mayura, Hansa, Lihini. Every house is played
enthusiastically hoping the victory. According to the Olympic sports
rules & regulation both track and field events are held. This
is the only chance which can take to perform sports talents as trainees.
Specially second year trainees don't forget to kiss & respect
the ground before they leave at the end of the sports meet.

English Day Ceremony
It is an another enormous function
held in the college by all the trainees under the supervision of
the president & the academic staff. It is organized by the English
Literary Association. As three courses are conducting in English
medium, it is a valuable function for the trainees. Essay, Solo,
Drama, Speech & other literary competitions are held.

Sinhala & Tamil
New Year Ceremony
When it is the end of March or beginning
of April ,Sinhala & Tamil new year festival is conducted by
the trainees under the supervision of the president and the academic
staff. In this festival priority is given to the traditional folk
games & folk music. College playground is the place where these
are performed. Academic, Non-academic staff and trainees feel the
pleasure in participating in the traditional games. Some of those
games are obstacle rase , pillow fighting, chakgudu fighting, breaking
the pot,tug of war , Keeping the eye to the elephant & Music-
chair competition etc. The new year ceremony ends with selecting
the new year prince and princess.

Vesak ceremony
Another function which is conducted
by the Buddhist Association is the vesak ceremony. Under the supervision
of the president and the academic staff ,it organizes meditation
programmes, Vesak Lanterns competitions, Bhakthigeetha presentation
etc. . All the trainees and academic & Non-academic staff are
actively participated in there.

Christmas day Programme
Before the term end vacation during
the first week December first year trainees organize a Christmas
day, under the supervision of the president and the academic staff.
Carol singing and the Christmas dramas are displayed in the
main hall by the trainees. One of the invited fathers comes and
delivers a speech. Though there are few Christian trainees in the
college, it is celebrated very colourfully.

Teachers' Day Ceremony
6th of October is a vary special day
to the college. With the aim of honoring to the lectures Teachers'
Day Ceremony is organized by the trainees at the college main hall.
Lectures are welcome to the ceremony worshiping with offering the
shef betel.

Human Rights Day Ceremony
With the combination of Human Rights
Studying Center of University of Colombo, this is organized by the
college Human Rights Unit. Guidance is given by the president and
academic staff. The structure of the ceremony differs year by year.
Sometimes schools, close to the college get together with this function.
Dramas, Posters, Discussions are conducted. Entire presentation
are carried out by the trainees themselves.

Women's Day Ceremony
On behalf of Women's day, the college
Human Rights Unit organizes the women's day ceremony. Dramas, Speeches,
Debates & Songs are presented in the college main hall as special
functions. Proper supervision is given by the president and the
academic staff.
